Floor covering panel element

Floor covering panel component has tongues on a first side surface and a groove on an opposite side second surface. Several panels are locatable side by side to constitute a floor covering with corresponding tongues and grooves coming into clamp engagement, securing the panel components against separation vertically to the side surfaces. On the tongue, is a longitudinally running rib and on the groove wall is a holding channel to accommodate the rib. The rib is on the upper side of the groove (5). The upper side of the groove in the introduction direction of the groove is displaced upwards behind the holding channel, so that a widened introduction section (7) of the groove is formed. The tongue and the rib in a vertical direction are thicker than the groove introduction section.
