Method and apparatus for providing breathing air

Production of breathing gas comprises introducing oxygen produced from an oxygen generator (7) into a compressed gas bottle (5). Electrolytic decomposition of water and oxygen occurs in the oxygen generator to form compressed oxygen which is injected into the compressed gas bottle. An Independent claim is also included for a device for producing breathing gas. Preferred Features: The electrolytic decomposition takes place at a pressure above the atmospheric ambient pressure, preferably at a pressure of 20-150 bar or 50-100 bar. The oxygen is dried before it is injected into the compressed gas bottle, preferably by cold drying, moisture absorption or membrane separation.
