The system to give a side alignment to sheets, at a sheet fed rotary printing press, has a grip mechanism (3) linked to a draw shaft (4) which is concentric in the cylinder (1). It has a keyed threaded nut (8) at the outer end, to be engaged by a threaded spindle (9), keyed to the motor shaft (13) of a motor (12) which is synchronized with the cylinder. The motor is operated with an advance or retard action within a working cycle.
