The sheet collecting device (1) has two stop rollers (6,7) set to a transport path to which the sheets are conveyed by the transport belts (2,3). Two pairs of deflectors (9,11) are arranged along the sheet transport path to move the sheets during transport for a moment out of a transport plane. The deflectors are made adjustable alternately between two positions for top and bottom sheet stacking.
