[Class 69 (iii)] A spray gun is formed with a spray head B, Fig. 1, detachably secured to the body A by a tubular screw 6 which also serves as a passage for the spraying air, the head of the screw being accessible for manual operation. The head unit B is connected to the body by a shank 4 entering a boss 5 and the members drawn together by the screw 6. The liquid control valve 7 is provided with a stem 8 operated by a member carried by the trigger 9 bearing on an enlargement 12. The trigger 9 has pivoted to it at 11, Fig. 5, a U-shaped dog which engages the enlargement 12 and has upstanding ears 14 which during normal working enter a recess 15 in the body A, but on further turning, as shown in Fig. 3, engage the edge of the recess to turn the dog out of engagement with the valve stem and thus permit the removal of the head B. This action is only possible when the head is slightly withdrawn as shown. The liquid valve is normally closed by a rod 22 bearing on the enlargement 12 and acted on by a spring contained in the removable unit C mounted on a bore in the body A. This unit C comprises a cylindrical casing 19 having a reduced portion 21 with an axial opening for the rod 22 to which a piston 24 is attached. A compression spring 31 within the cylinder bears against the piston 24 and encircles a sleeve 32 which bears against the closure 26. Further details of this are described in Specification 424,777. Air is supplied through the handle of the apparatus and is controlled by a valve 45 operated against the action of a spring 46 by the trigger 9 bearing against a stem 47. |
