<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas refining method capable of removing dimethylsiloxane from a methane-containing gas over a long period of time, and to provide a method for utilizing refined gas. <P>SOLUTION: When the methane-containing gas generated when organic waste such as garbage or sewage sludge is anaerobically fermented is supplied to a filling bed of activated carbon having pores with a mean pore size of 2.0-4.0 nm to be passed through this bed, dimethylsiloxane contained in the methane- containing gas is effectively adsorbed by the activated carbon. As a result, the generation amount of SiO<SB>2</SB>is little even if the methane-containing gas passed through the filling bed of activated carbon is burnt and, therefore, the methane- containing gas can be utilized as fuel of a gas engine, or the like, for the generation of electricity requiring long-time stable operation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
