PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber preform having low eccentricity and non- circularity degree and high reliability. SOLUTION: The method includes a collapsing process by disposing an outer tube made of a glass tube constituting a clad layer on a core rod constituting a core member and integrating the outer tube with the core rod surface to form a preform. The collapsing process includes an integration process to fast add the calories necessary for collapsing to the interface between the glass rod and the outer tube to integrate by induction heating while by using a horizontal induction heating furnace and moving the heating zone at a desired speed.
