<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the labor for fairing a polycrystal sheet by using a dicer or the like and to improve the productivity by providing a base body first surface and a base body second surface having different heights on a base body surface which is brought into contact with a melt of a semiconductor and on which the polycrystal sheet is solidified and grown, and to provide an inexpensive solar battery. <P>SOLUTION: In a method for producing the polycrystal sheet, wherein a melt section of the semiconductor material accommodated in a crucible and a base body comprising a heat resistant material, which is brought into contact with the melt under an inert atmosphere, are provided, a base body first surface and a base body second surface are allowed to have different heights to each other.
