PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for performing defoaming under reduced pressure without reducing the amount of a solvent, a dispersing medium or a low boiling point component in a liquid. SOLUTION: A liquid such as a solution or a dispersing medium mixed with air bubbles is placed under reduced pressure to separate air bubbles and the liquid. This defoaming method includes at least a first process for filling and hermetically closing an inner volume variable container filled with the liquid mixed with air bubbles and a second process for increasing the inner volume of the inner volume variable container to keep the inner volume increased state. The inner volume variable container is formed from a flexible substance as a whole, or a part (opening part) thereof is formed from the flexible substance, or the opening part thereof comprises a piston syringe. In order to increase the inner volume, the inner volume variable container is placed under a reduced pressure environment or the piston syringe is moved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
