PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide cutter for wires which can cut a rather thick metallic wire such as a mild steel wire, with a light force. SOLUTION: When handles 9 and 20 are opened, cutting parts 2 and 2a are relatively opened around pins 11 and 11 at front ends by the link motion of a link mechanism 25. When the wire, such as the mild steel wire, is set between the cutting parts and the handles are tightened to a closing direction, one end of a link 26 in sliding contact with the free end side of another cutter section 1a moves to a direction parting from the pin 11 and closes the cutting parts 2 and 2a while expanding the force by prying and therefore the wire is cut by the light force.
