PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the deformation of a housing of a pinion assisted electric power steering device for a heavy type of vehicle while suppressing an increase in weight and size of the housing. SOLUTION: The housing 70 of the electric power steering device 10 comprises in an integral manner, a rack storage portion 71 storing a rack shaft, a pinion storage portion 72 storing a pinion shaft 24, a transmission mechanism storage portion 73 storing an auxiliary torque transmission mechanism, a guide storage portion 74 storing a rack guide for thrusting a counter rack surface of the rack shaft, and a plurality of mounting portion 75, 76 for mounting the rack storage portion on a vehicle body. The mounting portion 75 located closest to a mesh area between a pinion and a rack is arranged near the guide storage portion to a side apart from the transmission mechanism storage portion. Longitudinally long reinforcing ribs 111, 112 long in the longitudinal direction thereof is integrally provided on the outer periphery face thereof. The reinforcing ribs are arranged on the opposite side to the guide storage portion in the radial direction of the rack storage portion and on the side of the transmission mechanism storage portion.
