PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust alignment to secure traveling stability of a vehicle regardless of tire characteristics. SOLUTION: The alignment is measured for all wheels of the vehicle to be adjusted (step 102), and a lateral force variation characteristic showing relationship between a toe angle and lateral force variation quantity at rolling is measured (steps 104 to 112). A wheel of which lateral force variation quantity is the maximum is selected (step 114), and a target toe angle of the front and rear wheels is set so that the lateral force variation quantity of the front wheel and the rear wheel on which side the selected wheel positions is equal (steps 116 to 122). Then, a stability factor Fstab when the toe angle is adjusted to be the target toe angle is calculated (step 124). The stability factor Fstab is determined whether it is within an appropriate range or not, and the target toe angle is corrected and recalculation of the stability factor Fstab is repeated when the stability factor Fstab is not within the appropriate range (steps 126 to 144). The target toe angle finally calculated is displayed (step 146). COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
