PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a flocculation treatment method capable of corresponding to wastewater of every kind or a papermaking raw material as a polymeric flocculant and capable of also corresponding to seasonal fluctuations or the fluctuations of compounded pulp, and to provide a treatment method for mixing cationic water soluble polymers different in chemical composition to combine them with an anionic water soluble polymer for the purpose of developing the flocculation treatment method. SOLUTION: The anionic water soluble polymer is combined with a mixture of the cationic water soluble polymer (A) having 5-100 mol% of a cationic structural unit selected from specific cationic structural units and 0-95 mol% of a nonionic structural unit and a cationic water soluble polymer (B) having a (meth)acrylic structural unit or a mixture prepared by further appropriately compounding a cationic water soluble polymer of another kind with the mixture of the cationic water soluble polymers (A) and (B).
