PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool clamping device capable of positively discriminating whether or not a tool holder is clamped on a main spindle. SOLUTION: Whether or not the tool holder TH is clamped on the main spindle 1 is positively discriminated by lightly contacting the lower end face of a piston rod 4B of a cylinder device 4 on the upper end face of a draw bar 2 and detecting a vertical positional change of a dog 18 fixed to the upper end part of the piston rod 4B protruding above a cylinder 4C by sensors 19A and 19B.
