<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paste having good handleability, excellent in a coating property, not applying excess load to a pump and a motor, in production process and transportation with a pipe and free from return phenomenon in production or in applying the paste and capable of being distributed and spread in even thickness onto a coating surface and a support, and to provide an external cataplasm using the paste. <P>SOLUTION: The paste comprises a water-containing gel contained by adding water to a hydrophilic polymer having a water repellent carried on the surface of particles in order to control a hydration rate.
