PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the irregularity range of the diameter of a lead can be permitted to a certain degree but, if the lead having the maximum diameter is used, it is not delivered according to circumferences to exceed the allowable range of the elastic deformation of an elastic thin film being a lead holding member. SOLUTION: In the propelling pencil wherein the lead holding member is provided in the vicinity of the tip of a shaft cylinder, the outer shape of the lead holding member is formed so as to be made slightly smaller than the inner shape of the shaft cylinder provided with the lead holding member and an inner surface stepped part for preventing the falling-off of the lead holding member from the shaft cylinder is provided in front of the lead holding member.
