PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a line printer which can record on a plurality of kinds of recording sheet while utilizing battery power effectively. SOLUTION: The line printer comprises a line thermal head 6 for recording a desired image, and the like, on a recording sheet, a sheet feed motor 5 for carrying the recording sheet at a specified speed, and means for receiving recording sheet size data and controlling the recording sheet carrying speed of the sheet feed motor 5 to increase as the width dimension of the recording sheet based on the recording sheet size data decreases.
