PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic endoscope system capable of connecting an electronic endoscope to a monitor device such as a TV device and a microscope while maintaining the sterilized state of the electronic endoscope. SOLUTION: The electronic endoscope system comprises the electronic endoscope 1 and the monitor device 3 for the image processing of picture signals. A solid imaging element is built in at the tip of an inserting part 4 of the electronic endoscope 1, and the electronic endoscope 1 has a video connector 7 for transmitting picture signals imaged by the solid imaging element. The electronic endoscope system also has a connection adaptor 2, which can electrically connect the video connector 7 and the monitor device 3 at their respective positions separate from each other and which can be sterilized. One end of the connection adaptor 2 is formed to be detachable from the video connector 7, and the other end is formed to be detachable from the monitor device 3. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
