<p>PURPOSE:To suppress the increase of the information volume due to the increase of the number of chains in a picture signal encoding method which detects feature points of an input picture signal to encode information of feature points into a chain code. CONSTITUTION:Chains CH1 and CH2 where the number of feature points is smaller than prescribed value T are not encoded into a chain code and are left as they are, and information of a chain CH3 where the number of feature points including feature points included in short chains CH1 and CH2 is equal to or larger than the value T is encoded into a chain code. As the result, one feature point curve is easily encoded by one chain CH3, and the increase of the information volume due to the increase of the number chains is suppressed.</p> |
