PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a perfecting press whose throughput during perfect printing is large enough to equal that during one side printing. SOLUTION: The order of pages of data from a host computer is changed, and the image of each page is transferred to a printing engine in the changed order, the printing engine conducts printing operation according to the order. That is, two paper sheets are taken continuously from an input tray 3, an even page is printed on the back of the first sheet, and then the next even page is printed on the back of the second sheet. The first sheet is sent to a sheet inversion route 10 to be turned over during the printing on the back of the second sheet. When the printing on the back of the second sheet is finished, the first sheet is taken up from the inversion route 10, an odd page is printed on its surface, the second sheet is taken from the inversion route 10, the next odd page is printed on its surface, and the sheets are discharged to an output tray 9. In this way, printing operation is repeated in which printing on the back is continued twice, and printing on the surface is continued twice. |
