PURPOSE: To provide a highly reliable gas sensor that can be mounted in combustion equipment and is remarkably enhanced in reliability by means of a sensor construction in which catalysts are used in significantly large amounts to avoid the degradation of a catalyst layer related to sensor characteristics, which is the greatest problem with chemical sensors. CONSTITUTION: This gas sensor has a resistance heater 1 on the inner surface of a cylindrical solid electrolyte 2, a pair of electrodes 3, 4 provided on the outer surface of the cylindrical solid electrode 2, and a porous catalyst cover layer 5 formed on one of the electrodes; the catalyst layer is so constructed to secure high reliability, thereby enhancing the reliability of the gas sensor. |
