PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel-hydrogen storage battery, having enhanced capacity density and high positive electrode characteristics by improving a positive electrode active material. SOLUTION: A nickel-hydroxide storage battery consists of a positive electrode, a negative electrode, an alkaline electrolyte, and a separator. Nickel hydroxide as the principal active material of the positive electrode is formed by soluting 5-10 atomic %-Mn, and 5-10 atomic %-Na into its metal nickel. The nickel hydroxide under a charged state is of a hexagonal system, or a tetragonal system having a diffraction peak on a (001) plane at near 16-19 degrees of a diffraction angle 2θ, for X-ray diffraction using CuKα as a radiation source. Its ordered arrangement has a NaCl-type structure. |
