FIELD: nature-preservative technologies. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for detoxification of both drinking and waste waters in a variety of areas. When method is performed in flow volumes, water flow is subjected to hydrodynamic cavitation treatment and then to UV irradiation, the first operation is effected stepwise with the aid of additionally installed cavitation exciters. Before cavitation treatment , water flow is narrowed to obtain flow velocity 19.0-28.0 m/s, for which aim cross-section areas in the steps are selected basing on following relationships: S= (13.2-14.6)10-6Q, Si = nh(di+ai), where S1 is first-step cross-section area, sq.m; Q water intake, sq.m/h; Si i-step cross-section area, sq.m; ai distance between i-step exciters, m; di i-step exciter diameter, m; n number of exciters in each step; h height of cavitation exciter in each step, m; (13,2-14,6)10-6 is factor determining reverse value of water flow velocity before the first step of exciters, h/m. Cavitation exciters are mounted in the step cross-section using relationships: +0.975i-0.3 and -0.625+1.45, whereas intensity of UV irradiation is 13.5-15.0 mJ/sq.cm. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of detoxification of water due to increased synergetic effect by way of intensification of hydrodynamic cavitation. 2 dwg, 1 tbl
