PURPOSE: A modularized ionizer of an air cleaner for a vehicle is provided to considerably increase the emission rate of a negative ion that is discharged into the vehicle, to equally spread the discharged negative ion over the whole of the vehicle, and accordingly to increase the purifying capacity of the air cleaner. CONSTITUTION: A case comprises a front cover having an inlet port for the inner air of a vehicle, an upper cover to which a discharge port of purified air is formed, and combined with an auxiliary tail light lightened with together a brake light, and a lower cover(13) integrally connecting the front and upper covers. An air filter is mounted to the front cover in the case and a blast fan is installed at the inner center of the case to form a ventilation space(16) by a vertical guide plate(11b) of the upper cover and a rounding part(13c) of the lower cover. An ionizer(30) is formed at the ventilation space and connected by a high voltage transformer(33) and an electric wire(33a) to generate a negative ion. The ionizer includes a regular square-shaped emitter plate(35) which is made from copper or brass plates, fixed between the vertical guide plate and the rounding part, and inclined to the blast fan in a longitudinal direction of the ventilation space. A plurality of needle-shaped emitting units(36) are triangularly protruded from the emitter plate at a front end of a bending part(35a) bent to the blast fan at the upside of the emitter plate and formed along the emitter plate in a longitudinal direction of the ventilation space.
