PURPOSE: A sensorless speed control method of a synchronous reluctance motor is provided to prevent the initial reverse rotation by dividing an estimated speed of a rotor into a low speed interval and a high speed interval to promote a response time. CONSTITUTION: A rotation speed estimating unit(23) outputs an estimated rotor speed. A tracking loop feedbacks and outputs rotor speed. A comparing unit(32) subtracts the estimated rotor speed from the rotor speed to generate an error. The error generated by the comparing unit(32) is inputted to a speed control unit(91). The speed control unit(91) controls a speed of the rotor according to the error from the comparing unit(32). The speed of the rotor is divided into an initial starting interval, a speed increasing intervals, a constant speed interval, and a high speed interval. In the high speed interval, the tracking loop is not used.
