PURPOSE: An upright retaining wall is provided to simplify construction and to reduce construction expenses such as the cost of materials and labor costs, etc. CONSTITUTION: The upright retaining wall comprises the steps of heading up reinforced earth(7) composed of sand and stone or broken stones on an inclined wall(6), installing grids(10) horizontally to make a retentive plate(8) buried under the reinforced earth(7), installing an outer concrete wall(3) containing broken stones on the outside of the reinforced earth, building stone mound composed of native rocks(1) or concrete blocks on the outer concrete wall(3) to cross each other, perforating a steel bar fitting hole(9) on a contact plane of the stone mound, and interposing a steel bar(2) coupled perpendicularly to the outer end of a grid(10) supported by a retentive plate(8) buried under the reinforced earth(7) to the fitting hole(9).
