PURPOSE: A method and system for an on-line horse racing using moving picture data is provided to enable a user to enjoy the horse racing using a moving picture by storing data photographed during several years in a conventional horse racing track in a moving picture storing server as a digital format and using a streaming and multicast technique. CONSTITUTION: A moving picture DB(100) stores moving picture data photographed in a horse racing track. When an on-line horse racing is played, the data are extracted at random. When the on-line horse racing is started, the data are transmitted to a client PC(140) as a streaming form. Horse racing related data are displayed and a betting is executed on the web through a server(120) using a program and a horse racing related DB(110). A user watches information of horse racing apportionment and racehorses and executes a betting through the client PC(140). The betting data are received to the server(120) and the on-line horse racing is started. Transmitted moving picture data are reproduced in the client PC(140) and a virtual horse racing is played as an actual horse racing. If the horse racing is completed, the result is processed in the server(120) and result data are transmitted to the client PC(140). The user receives a free gift or cyber money according to the horse racing result.
