METHOD FOR CONVERTING FROM CONTROL HOLD MODE TO ACTIVE MODE IN PACKET DATA SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A method for converting from a control hold mode to an active mode in a packet data system is provided to transit every gating-available channel from a control hold mode to an active mode as well as a reverse pilot channel in an idle state between a terminal and a base station. CONSTITUTION: When data is transmitted through a reverse link in a control hold mode between a terminal(10) and a base station(20), a new traffic channel is not allocated and only gating of an R-PICH(Reverse Pilot Channel) and an R-CQICH(Reverse Channel Quality Indicator Channel) is released at the terminal(10). A signaling message is transmitted from the terminal(10) to the base station(20) through an R-DCCH(Reverse Dedicated Control CHannel)(S11). Upon receiving the signaling message requesting release of gating, the base station(20) transmits an F-PDCCH(Forward Packet Data Control Channel) including a general ACK message to the terminal(10)(S12).
