SUSTAINED RELEASE TYPE PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION COMPRISING CYCLOSPORINE

PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition consisting essentially of cyclosporine and a release-controlling agent is provided which permits a constant blood concentration of drugs to be controlled and maintained during several days to several weeks, thereby minimizing side effects and increasing patient compliance. CONSTITUTION: The sustained release pharmaceutical composition comprises 15 to 70% by weight of cyclosporin, 25 to 80% by weight of a biodegradable polymer and 0.01 to 20% by weight of a release-controlling agent. The release-controlling agent is one or more components selected from a hydrophilic release-controlling agent and a lipophilic release-controlling agent. The composition enables cyclosporin to be maintained at blood concentration in the range of 100 to 500ng/ml in the body for 7 to 28 days.
