PURPOSE: Provided is a method for producing a ketone in inorganic oxide catalyst supported by cadmium oxide, which has high productivity, and little inactivation of catalyst. CONSTITUTION: The method for producing a ketone represented by formula 3, comprises the step of reacting carboxylic acids represented by formulas 1 and 2 or derivatives thereof in fixed phase continuous reaction system filled with inorganic oxide catalyst supported by cadmium oxide at 200-550 deg.C, pressure of 0.1-100 psi, and weight hourly space velocity(WHSV) of 0.1-30 h-1. In the formulas, R1 and R3 which are the same or different, represent C1-C12 alkyl, cycloalkyl, arylalkyl, aryl or heteroaryl group, R2 is hydroxyl group, hydrogen atom, chlorine atom, C1-C6 alkoxy group, or amino group, and R4 is hydroxyl group or hydrogen atom.
