LEATHER-LIKE SHEET SUBSTRATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a leather-like sheet substrate having sufficient wet-heat resistance and strength of ultrafine fiber and giving a soft feeling and a unique dry feeling unattainable by conventional leather-like sheet substrates. SOLUTION: The leather-like sheet substrate is composed of a nonwoven fabric made of three-dimensionally interlocked ultrafine fibers having a fineness of≤0.5 dtex and a polymer elastomer. The ultrafine fiber is composed of (A) an ethylene - vinyl alcohol copolymer having an ethylene unit content of 25-70 mol% and (B) a polyamide resin blended with each other at an A:B weight ratio of 55:45 to 97:3. The ultrafine fiber contains≥5 wt.% fraction insoluble in dimethyl sulfoxide. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
