摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarized wave preserving photonic crystal fiber in which a mode of a Ti-diffused waveguide of an LN modulator can be matched to that of a quartz glass waveguide or the like of an AWG. SOLUTION: The polarized wave preserving photonic crystal fiber 20 comprises a solid core 21a, and a clad 21b having a plurality of pores 21c arranged to form a predetermined lattice in a cross section of the fiber. The pore adjacent to the core 21a of the clad 21b has large pore size pores 21c' arranged as a pair via the core 21a, and small pore size pores 21c arranged as a pair via the core 21a so that a mode field of an optical propagation region perpendicularly cross with each other in the cross section of the fiber and has two polarized wave modes having different propagation constants. The large pore size pores 21c' are arranged to be deviated from a position for forming the predetermined lattice in a direction in which an aspect ratio of the pores 21c' is reduced.
