PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent burn out accidents by abnormal heat generation or the like of an electronic circuit breaker. SOLUTION: The electronic circuit breaker has a control means comprising the steps of (a) comparing a load current (I) with an opening threshold current of a contact (Iref) when an internal temperature (Tc) is not larger than an allowable temperature (Tu) required for the opening of a contact member and not less than a setting standard value (Tref), (b) operating a first delay time based on the load current and the threshold current when the load current is not less than the threshold current, (c) operating a correction factor (K) based on the inner temperature and the standard value, (d) operating a secondary delay time based on the first delay time and the correction factor, and (e) outputting a signal proportional to the second delay time as a control signal.
