PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an autofocus camera capable of taking a photograph prevented from being influenced by blurring on one side of the photograph. SOLUTION: When a specific photographing mode such as landscape photographing is selected, the camera is focused on the center area of field angle. When the photographing mode other than the specific mode is selected, photographing depth in the field angle is calculated on the basis of distances measured from an object for a plurality of split areas of the field angle. When the calculated photographing depth is smaller than the standard threshold, the camera is focused on the center area of the field angle, while when it is larger than the threshold, camera is focused on the nearest area including the object, which prevents the photograph from blurring on one side.
