PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal which can have sound characteristics advantageous in terms of sound pressure and sound characteristics advantageous to stable speech reception characteristics according to use environment through user's easy operation. SOLUTION: The portable terminal comprises: a receiver 8 which emits a front sound and a back sound; a main body 1 which includes the receiver 8 and has a sound emission hole 2a for emitting the front sound to the outside and a sound emission hole 2b for emitting the back sound to the outside; and a slide type cover 3 which opens and closes the sound emission hole 2b to adjust the emission of the back sound from the main body 1.
