<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic component mounting apparatus and a method for sensing the abnormality of an air blowing system in the electronic component mounting apparatus wherein the presence of the abnormality of the air blowing system for discharging positive pressure air from a suction nozzle can be sensed by a simple method. <P>SOLUTION: The electronic component mounting apparatus so sucks supportingly an electronic component by a suction nozzle 10 of a transferring and mounting head as to mount it on a board. In this apparatus, the flow rate of the air passing an air blowing circuit is measured by a flow-rate sensor 12 while positive pressure air fed from an air feeding source 21 is discharged from the suction nozzle 10. Then, a flow-rate pattern indicating the elapsed change of the flow rate obtained by flow-rate measurement is so compared with decision data stored in a memory 16 as to decide the presence of the abnormality of an air blowing system. Thereby, without the removal and decomposition of any functional component, the presence of the abnormality of the air blowing system can be sensed by a simple method. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
