<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image compression apparatus for attaining the acceleration of data transfer. <P>SOLUTION: When image data are inputted to input registers in input parts 1, 2, 3 and 4, a DMA request number for managing the image data is issued and stored into an information register 60. On the basis of that stored request number, the same detection parts 10 and 11 as the request number are selected out of a plurality of detection parts 10 and 11.
