<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic stripe processing device to shorten read/write processing time for the magnetic stripe and a printer therefor. <P>SOLUTION: Because positions of both ends of a medium fed inside the magnetic stripe processing device are detected, a magnetic head to perform the read/write processing for the magnetic stripe attached to the medium is not moved all the range from one end to the other end of its moving range and its moving distance is limited in accordance with the range where the medium is positioned, useless movement of the magnetic head is eliminated and the processing time can be shortened. And because ending information is outputted before the magnetic head is returned to a home position and notified to a host device to which the magnetic stripe processing device is connected, the host device can transmit the next command even before the magnetic head is returned to the home position and makes contribution to shorten the processing time for the total magnetic stripe processing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
