摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain the adhesion of a carrier to a latent image carrier and to obtain a high image density while improving the reproducibility of a thin line and the restraining a rear end void phenomenon in an image forming apparatus (a medium-speed machine) whose image forming speed is high. <P>SOLUTION: A magnetic brush is formed by napping developer on a developing sleeve 4 by a main magnetic pole being an N pole and two auxiliary magnetic poles being S poles arranged to be opposed to a developing area where the sleeve 4 and a photoreceptor drum 1 are mutually opposed in the developing area, and it rubs to develop an electrostatic latent image on the drum 1. In the developing device, the length of the magnetic brush is short and the density of the edge part of the magnetic brush coming into contact with the latent image carrier is made high, so that the rear end void phenomenon is restrained but the linear velocity of the sleeve 4 must be made high with reference to that of the drum 1 in order to maintain the high image density. Therefore, the carrier easily adheres to the drum 1, but the adhesion of the carrier is restrained by using the carrier whose saturation magnetization value is within a specified range. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p>
