PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone set which can properly manages a telephone directory containing mail addresses of electronic mail without playing any burden on a user and, specially, properly register the mail addresses of electronic mail in the telephone directory. SOLUTION: The telephone set is equipped with a memory M storing the telephone directory in which specification information specifying a person and the telephone number and mail address of the person can registered while related to each other and a DPS 4 which functions as a model for sending and receiving electronic mail. A CPU 7 performs retrieval from the telephone directory in the memory M according to information included in received electronic mail and registers the mail address of a sender of electronic mail as the mail address of the sender when deciding through the retrieval that the sender of the electronic mail is already registered in the telephone directory.
