PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide emulsion which improves storage stability and lowering of sensitivity and deterioration of image quality due to natural radiation, a method for preparing the silver halide emulsion and a silver halide photographic sensitive material. SOLUTION: In the silver halide emulsion, 70-100% of the total projected area of all grains is occupied by tabular silver halide grains, the average aspect ratio (AR) of the tabular silver halide grains is 10-500, and when the average value of equivalent circular grain diameter of projected area is represented by D (μm) and the number ratio of tabular silver halide grains whose equivalent circular grain diameter of projected area is≥(1+k(log<SB>10</SB>AR)<SP>0.5</SP>)D by N<SB>1</SB>(%), N<SB>1</SB>≤5 is satisfied in the case of k=0.4.
