PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical apparatus for observation which can prevent a ghost from arising. SOLUTION: The optical apparatus for observation has, successively from an object side, a positive objective lens 10, an erecting prism 30, and a positive eyepiece 20 and has such a vibration isolation mechanism as to hold the erecting prism 30 in an initial posture without depending upon vibration in order to correct an image blur. The erecting prism 30 is a Schmidt's erecting prism and comprises a first prism 31 and a second prism 32. The optical apparatus for observation satisfies the following condition equation (1) when the focal distance from the surface on the extreme object side of the objective lens 10 is defined as fo, the distance from the surface on the extreme object side of the objective lens 10 to the erecting prism 30 as L and the relative (maximum) deflection angle of the erecting prism 30 in vibration isolation asω: 0.25<L/ fo-sinω<0.5...(1).
