PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ribbon fiber, a method for manufacturing it and an optical fiber array using it which can easily manufacture a multi-core fiber array and a half pitch fiber array and improve workability and a yield. SOLUTION: In the ribbon fiber 1, a plurality of special fibers 12 processed by a predetermined process are aligned with bare fibers 10 not processed by the predetermined process, and a ribbon 2 has a length (T) of 2-300 mm. After a plurality of the special fibers 12 are aligned as lengths of the special fibers 12 are adjusted so as to have an accurate pitch width and predetermined accuracy of a position in the longitudinal direction in the processed part, the ribbon fiber 1 is partially fixed and covered by an adhesive 36 and the ribbon 2 is formed and manufactured.
