PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic encoder by which a large magnetic force can be obtained, and which is strong against peeling due to a temperature change. SOLUTION: The magnetic encoder 20 is provided with a magnetic pole forming ring 22 and an expansion and contraction absorbing layer 23 provided on a mounting face to the other member of the magnetic pole forming ring 22. The magnetic pole forming ring 22 is a member in which a magnetic pole is formed alternately in the circumference and comprises a plastic magnet, a sintered magnet or a rubber magnet. The expansion and contraction absorbing layer 23 is an elastically expandable and contractive layer and an elastic adhesive or a rubber material or the like is used. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
