<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a function shifting apparatus for use with an electronic appliance having an on-screen display (OSD) and method for using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The function shifting apparatus for use with the electronic appliance of this invention employs switches for outputting a cursor moving signal and a signal for function shifting corresponding to operation, a plurality of icons representing preset functions of the appliance that are set during initialization, an indicating unit for displaying the cursor in a display screen according to the cursor moving signal of the switches, and a control unit for revising ON/OFF of the icon function when the cursor is placed on the icon displayed on the display unit corresponding to the set function and a switch revision signal is received. Then the function shift method displays the icon representing the function on the initial menu of the display unit, places the cursor on the icon representing the function for the function shifting and shifts the function with a simple key operation, so that the functions of the electronic appliance can simply be shifted without requiring a separate external button for function shifting and without particularly having to shift the menu in a rather complicated menu mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
