PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a read image of high quality by preventing the occurrence of Newton ring. SOLUTION: A read original holder 10 is constituted of a base part 12 on which an instant film 11 is held and a frame part 15 projecting from the base part 12. The film 11 is stuck by an adhesive tape 20 and held on the holder 10. When the holder 10 is set on the surface of the glass plate 15 on an image reader 14, the image forming surface 17b of the film 11 and the plate 15 are not brought into close-contact with each other and kept within the range of space B=0.2 to 0.7 mm.
