PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a greening block capable of retaining an inhabitable soil environment for plants even in any time when being submerged and exposed to air and further, capable of preventing exfoliation of a lake shore slope face and greening. SOLUTION: A soil bed preventing the sand of a sumberged lake shore slope face from peeling off and growing vegetation excellent in submergence resistance is made to green the lake shore slope face by greening blocks. The greening block has a soil retaining section 10 containing soil 13 for forming the soil bed growing vegetation, an air chamber 9 storing air supplying to the soil 13 of the soil retaining section 10 in submergence, an aeration hole 2 guiding the air in the air chamber 9 to the soil 13 in the soil retaining section 10, a drain hole 3 for draining water in the soil bed from the block front face 4, at the upper part of the bottom of the soil retaining section 10 at the exposed time to the air. In the green block 1, the soil bed of the soil retaining section is pushed out forwarder than the greening block of the upper stage to pile it in tiers and fixedly cover the lake shore slope face and further, plant vegetation excellent in submergence resistance onto the soil bed to green it.
