PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus are provided to reduce work procedures and parts count by performing a doming compensation in a shadow mask without using an additional doming compensator. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises a step of disposing a panel on a panel fixture(100); a step of fixing one side of the longer side of a shadow mask(118) on a fixing pin(105) along the curvature of an effective portion(104) of a panel; a step of fixing the other side of the longer side of the shadow mask through a tension applying unit(212); a step of disposing a heater(210) on the bottom surface of the shadow mask; a step of drawing the other side of the longer side of the shadow mask by operating the tension applying unit; and a step of tensioning the other side of the longer side of the shadow mask by heating the shadow mask through the use of the heater, and fixing the shadow mask on the other fixing pin of the panel.
