<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to record and reproduce in a recording density beyond a diffraction limit by a short wavelength light, especially a blue laser beam and to provide an optical recording medium having a high transfer rate, and a recording method using the medium. <P>SOLUTION: A super resolution mask containing a polymer acquired by reacting for example, a porphyrin polymer coordinated by a Cu atom and iodine, is arranged at a incident side where a recording and reproducing beam to a recording layer of the optical recording medium having the recording layer set up on a substrate, enters.
