PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor in which the generation of small dots is prevented so as not to make mixing conspicuous on the side of a high line number while effectively utilizing the small dots in the edge portion of drawing. SOLUTION: Image data read from a scanner 100 are sent through scannerγcorrection 101, filter processing 102 and printerγcorrection 103 to half tone processing 104 and on the other hand, feature amount data for switching a threshold are created from the scanner data in half tone processing 104. By having two kinds of feature amount extraction (1) 105 and feature amount extraction (2) 106, the features of a desired image are taken separately for characteristics and the result of the feature amount extraction (1) 105 is made into multilevel 107 but the results of the feature amount extraction (2) 106 are binarized 108 such that a control parameter for threshold selection is generated by logical arithmetic 109.
